The only thing crazier than the news of Amazon.com accidentally sending out 500 pre-ordered copies of Lil Wayne’s highly-anticipated rock-rap hybrid album, “Rebirth,” is that after word of the leak spread, it took two days for many folks across the Web to finally get their hands on links to the album. In Internet time, 48 hours is a lifetime.
But now that “Rebirth” has finally leaked, complete with album cover art, we finally get to hear why Cash Money/Universal Motown pushed the album back a total of six times, before finally setting its sights on a February 1, 2010 release date. His 2008 album “The Carter III,” sold more than a million copies in its first week of release.
The chart-topping rapper, who pleaded guilty in New York City to a felony gun charge, is also due to be sentenced in February 2010.
Kid Cudi has left the Monster Ball early, vacating his opening-act slot on Lady Gaga’s current tour just five days after punching a fan during a solo performance in Vancouver. According to the official statement posted on Dat New Cudi, the Grammy-nominated rapper took “an early leave of absence from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments.” Cudi will now embark on his own solo trek, which kicked off last night in Reno, Nevada.
